This article was recently sent to me.  The purpose of this well written  letter by John Franklin Stephens was to educate Ann Coulter on her use of a word that we all cringe to hear.

I learned a bigger lesson from this letter.  It highlighted to me that our perspective of a child or person with special needs is not always theirs.  As parents, friends, and therapists we might perceive the world as challenging for a child with special needs.  I think that is just part of the “worry” gene we all carry. We need to remind ourselves that their perception of the world is not always about challenges but also about opportunity.

There is a sentence that Mr. Franklin composed that really should be on a banner:

” No one overcomes more than we do and still loves life so much.”
